I know I’ve said it before but each book really does get better than the previous one. This world that HP Mallory and JR Rain have built is wonderfully outlandish and strange and I love it. Bumpkins and Banshees is the fourth book in this series set in the small town of Windy Ridge, middle of nowhere, USA. 

This is a Paranormal Women’s Fiction series and there is still the potential for a complicated romance but it hasn’t happened yet. The love interest turns into a potential love triangle in this book, with the arrival of our main character’s ex who stirs up some surprising feelings.

There have been murders in the strange town of Windy Ridge. Stranger than usual murders. Premeditated murders which have all been preceded by a woman wailing. 

The story is set way out in the sticks and everyone is something outside of ‘normal’; there are only four humans in this town of supernaturals. The characters are all unique and quirky, there has been excellent character development over the series and I love the world building.

Something weirder than usual is going on in Windy Ridge. I love this series.

Each book just gets better than the last. It’s wonderfully outlandish and strange and I love it. Gut Rot and Gargoyles is the third book in this series set in the small town of Windy Ridge, middle of nowhere, USA. 

I’ve said in previous reviews that it’s hard to categorise this book. It’s listed as Paranormal Women’s Fiction but it’s not like any other PWF book I’ve read. It’s definitely Paranormal and there is still the potential for a complicated romance but it hasn’t happened yet; although I suspect there will be more on that in the next book.

The story is set way out in the sticks and everyone is something outside of ‘normal’; there are only three humans in this town of supernaturals. The characters are all unique and quirky, there has been excellent character development over the last three books and I love the world building. 

The story arc in this book is hilarious and unusual; weird even for Windy Ridge. I laughed a lot reading it. That said, there is also a deeper message of love, community connection and the importance of good communication.

Rural Supernatural Investigations. I love this series.

This is the second book in a new series set in the small town of Windy Ridge, the middle of nowhere, USA. it’s just as good as book one was. I raced through it. This is quite unlike anything I’ve read from HP Mallory and JR Rain so far. 

I’m not sure how to categorise this book. It has some potential for romance, so it could be classed as Paranormal Romance but its a very slow burn. It could be Urban Fantasy, although the setting is more rural than urban. Whatever the category, the world building and character building in this book is excellent. 

The town of Windy Ridge was an ordinary run-of-the-mill, sleepy town until the red mist hit. Now its a town full of supernaturals just trying to get by while remaining secret from the rest of the world.

I love the characters in this series. A seemingly mismatched bunch of formerly ordinary people begrudgingly led by waitress turned vampire alongside the human sheriff have their own cobbled-together law enforcement who are trying to keep the peace while finding missing members of their town and uncover what caused all the changes to the townsfolk.

When there is an attack on the locals and investigations uncover a burned out home and a missing family, some outside help is needed to get to the bottom of things. It would seem that the human sheriff has a few secrets of his own.

Excellent start to a new supernatural series.

This is the first book in a new PNR series set in the small town of Windy Ridge, the middle of nowhere, USA. What an excellent start to this new series. I raced through it. This is quite unlike anything I’ve read from HP Mallory and JR Rain. So far, it reminds me a little bit of the Midnight Texas series by Charlaine Harris. 

Windy Ridge was your average small town with its fair share of ordinary people living ordinary lives. At least it was, until the day that the mysterious red mist rolled in. The town and its inhabitants haven’t been the same since. Half of them lost their minds and disappeared into the woods, never to return. The other half tried the best they could to get on with their new life.

Now a town full of supernaturals and strange creatures, many of whom no longer look human, Windy Ridge has cut itself off from the rest of the world. The residents of this not so ordinary town are just trying to get by without the attention of outsiders, who might just want to put them on a slab while they poke and prod and investigate. It all works beautifully for a year until the day two ordinary humans walk into their midst in the shape of a new sheriff and his nephew. It seems they are here to stay but can they be trusted to keep the town’s secret and keep the townsfolk safe from the outside world?
