Our Satyr Prince (Myth Shifters, book 1) - Dylan Drakes

Truly Excellent Debut Novel.

I absolutely loved this book; it is such a good book that I would never have assumed it was a debut novel. Utterly superb.

Our Satyr Prince is an LGBTQ+ paranormal romance filled with both humans and mythical beings, set in a faraway land based on ancient Greece. There is an abundance of action, politics, scheming, war, rescue, love and the forging of new personal bonds and international alliances.

The writing style is excellent; so easy to read. I really enjoyed the world building: the places, the people, the magic are all wonderfully described. There are new and exciting takes on shape-shifting beings.

There are some descriptive scenes of a sexual nature between two consenting male beings. It is pertinent to the plot and there is so much more to this book than sexual encounters.

Everything about this book feels new and exciting. I love the naivety of the main female character and the moral greyness of the main male character; he and his younger female cousin have both experienced a life of privilege followed by different types of hardship. Both are emotionally scarred by it and each is trying to fulfil their potential in their own way. Both travel far afield to do so and despite their initial close relationship, their individual journeys lead one to betray the other. Neither ends up where they thought they would and both of them discover themselves in ways they never dreamed of.

I raced through this book. I didn’t want to put it down and I cannot wait for book two. Absolutely fantastic debut novel. More, more, more please!

Rogue (Hellfire Series, Book 4) - Ella Moore

This is one of my favourite series

I really enjoyed reading this book. I actually love this series; I haven’t read anything else like it and it’s definitely one of my favourites.

This is the fourth book in the paranormal romance series. It could be read as a standalone but in my opinion, it really is better to read it as part of the series. There is an underlying story arc and you need to read them in order to appreciate it.

The story is set on a version of Earth where humans and demons both live in their own tribes on the same plane of existence during a time after Lucifer had fallen but was still fighting his way to dominion over all demonkind. This book contains detailed scenes of a sexual nature between two consenting female beings.

The world building in these books is superb. Ella Moore’s writing is an absolute joy to read. All the characters in this series are complex and carry their share of baggage. There are ongoing themes of damaged beings who find love and acceptance where they expect there to be none.

This book really starts to pull together the underlying story arc which began quietly in book one; things which seemed to be incidental in previous books are now revealed to have a much greater importance.

The stories in this series contain violent and brutal elements, as you would expect in a land filled with demonic tribes and vengeful angels. They are filled with action, politics, scheming, war, rescue, love and the forging of family bonds. I absolutely love it. Ella Moore is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. I cannot wait to see what comes next.
