Emergence of Fire (Queen of Arcadia, Book 1) - Dreia Wells

Excellent start to a new Paranormal Romance series

This is the first book in a new PNR RH series from Dreia Wells. The book is set both in modern day Earth as well as in the realms of the Druids and the Dragons. There are scenes of betrayal and murder and there are descriptive scenes of consensual sexual activity between one female and her three mates.

I really enjoyed this book. It's among my favourite of her books so far. I really like the story, the characters are well thought out and the worldbuilding and magic systems are great.

The book begins with a coup; the betrayal of the Dragon Queen and the rescue of the infant princess. The rest of the book is set thirty years later, when the princess has grown. Discovering that she is a dragon is surprising enough. Discovering that she is destined to be queen of the dragon realm and that she will have three fated mates is beyond anything she could have imagined. To fulfil her destiny she will have to take on the evil which destroyed her family all those years ago. They know she survived and they are coming for her. Can she get to grips with her new found powers and the upheaval life has thrown her way in time to take them on?

This is a fun book. I enjoyed reading it. I can see characters in this who I’d like to know more about and I hope they get their own books as either part of this series or a spin-off series. Roll on Book 2!

Art Deco Apparitions (Haven Hollow, Book 14) - HP Mallory & JR Rain

Surrender to the Succubus!

This is the 14th book in the Haven Hollow series. It is a collaboration between HP Mallory and JR Rain. The book falls in the Paranormal Women’s Fiction genre. In this book there is some romance and some mild descriptive scenes of a sexual nature.

This book primarily focuses on Fifi and her developing relationship with Roy, as well as introducing a bit more about her relationship with her brother. A haunting and a demonic possession bring out Fifi’s true nature and we see more aspects of her and the succubus within, which have previously been alluded to but not really fully explored until now.

Over this series, all the main characters have seen growth and development and despite the differences in their natures and outlooks on life, they all gel well as a community of supernatural beings. Their humanity very much shines through and they are all relatable in their own ways.

There must be at least one more book to come in this series, as there are still more story arcs to close but a part of me doesn’t want them to end. I like Haven Hollow. I like these characters and their eventful lives. I’m looking forward to the next book.

Claimed in Orbit (Fated Mates of the Olmi Warriors, Book 1) - Brianna Everly

A great start to a new Sci-Fi Alien Romance series.

This is the first in a new Sci-Fi Alien Romance series from Brianna Everly. The story starts on Earth but is set predominantly in space. This is a romance and there are descriptive scenes of a consenting sexual nature between a human female and alien male.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a fun and light hearted read with a happy ever after and I raced through it in one evening. The female main character is strong and feisty and she definitely gives as good as she gets. The Olmi are taller than the average human. They are humanoid but definitely alien to look at. The peen is interesting and what comes out of it is hallucinogenic! Fabulous! What more could anyone ask for?

Those who sign up for Brianna Everly’s newsletter also get access to a prequel, which is almost as long as this first novel. Definitely worth doing. I really enjoyed that book as well.

If alien or monster romance is your thing, then you’ll like this. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

Hellcrossed (Raven Cursed Book 5) - McKenzie Hunter

Being dragged kicking and screaming to the demon realm can really change a person’s perspective on life

This is the fifth installment of McKenzie Hunter’s Raven Cursed series. It’s an Urban Fantasy set in modern day USA with some crossover into the demon realm. There is some romance but it’s not the main focus of the story. There are some mild scenes of a sexual nature between contenting adults.

This series is my favourite of all the work McKenzie Hunter has published so far. The character development is outstanding. The world building and magic systems are well thought through. These are long, action-packed books with believable relationships and complex story arcs.

Being dragged kicking and screaming to the demon realm and then being forced into a blood-oath with an untrustworthy demon can really change a person’s perspective on life. Erin is no slouch but this experience really lights a fire under her. There are too many people either trying to kill her or make her life a misery and it’s time they all went. If she wants to live a peaceful life, she needs to improve her already impressive magical repertoire and in order to do that, she has to find out how her elven magic works. No mean feat when the elves are nowhere to be found.

This book started out with a bang and ended on a much bigger one. There were unexpected twists and there may also have been an audible gasp and mutterings of ‘oh my god!’ from me when I got to the end. Every book is better than the last so far and now, because I raced through this one so quickly, I have to attempt to wait patiently for the next one.

The reading order for this series so far is:

Book 1 Fireborne

Book 2 Silverfall

Book 3 Nightsoul

Book 4 Shadowmark

Book 5 Hellcrossed
